Our Story

AUAR was founded on a simple belief: high-quality housing should be easy to build. Better for people. Better for the planet.

Founded by Mollie Claypool and Gilles Retsin after more than a decade working across architecture, manufacturing, and robotics, AUAR exists to fix a core failure in construction. Homebuilding is local and constantly changing. Most industrial systems are not. Fixed factories don’t match how homes are actually built.

So we took a different path. We build with the industry, not around it. We ship robots into live sites, learn fast, and improve with every deployment. Homebuilders set the bar. We adapt. We iterate. We get better.

We’re building toward a future with a network of thousands of Micro-Factories — a global production layer for housing. A future where beautiful, affordable homes are simply normal.

Our Vision

A world where good homes are accessible to everyone

Good homes should be easy to build

Building affordable housing shouldn’t require complex processes, bespoke solutions, or heroic effort on site. When systems are simple, repeatable, and reliable, builders can deliver more homes at lower cost and with less risk. Making housing affordable starts with making it easier to build.

Builders shouldn’t have to buy robots

Automation only works if it fits real projects. Flexible, zero-CapEx systems allow builders to add production capacity when and where it’s needed, without long setup times or fixed factory investment. By removing upfront risk, automation becomes a practical tool for everyday housing delivery.

Building together with the industry

There is no single player that can fix housing alone. We believe in working with the existing industry—builders, manufacturers, engineers, and trades—to improve how homes are delivered. By building on proven methods and combining them with automation, we make change achievable at scale.
